Poster and painting exhibition of Juris Dimiters “Signs of my Time” invites the viewer to follow the interests of the legendary artist and his versatile creative activity. When looking for designations for J. Dimiter’s art, several designations come to mind at the same time – surreal, provocative, erotic, decadent, professionally perfectly implemented.
“I am an absolute skeptic, I doubt everything. And what leads me most pessimism is the problem of infinity, because there is something incomprehensible, superhuman. I am an educated materialist. For me, art is, firstly, a profession and, secondly, a way of self-expression, as a language – I present my phrase, not in words, but as a picture, and therefore I need to have the viewers, the audience would express its thoughts and appreciation. Let there be a resonance, because I don’t paint for myself. Sometimes I specially provoke. If we consider art to be a language, a conversation with the viewer, then a poster allows for a much faster response, especially in this age of social networking. The reaction is instantaneous, but it is in the ideal case. Now such a poster of the time of Toulouse Lotrec (French painter) is dead, completely democratized, dissolved on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest. Everyone can open a program on the phone, make their own poster, and if you hit the top ten, you will get ten thousand “likes”. Artist Juris Dimiters
